I use a Session DI with my LR Baggs X-Bridge (on my Strat) and Franken-Fishman Powerbridge (on my Gibson Nighthawk, saddles hot-rodded onto the guitar's bridge about 15 years ago) and it works great. The piezo pickup comes with two output jacks on the guitar: one that feeds the direct output of the piezo, the other (called “Mix/Mag”) that blends all of the pickups out of a single jack. The LR Baggs/PRS Piezo pickup system adds a layer of versatility that is well suited for both live and studio work. The pickups are SC 245 treble and bass humbuckers. Tuners are PRS 14:1 low mass locking tuners, and an adjustable LR Baggs/PRS Piezo stoptail bridge and pickup system. The neck is the standard 25” PRS scale length with a wide-fat neck carve and 22 jumbo frets. So I have no connection to the product and I would have given you the same advice 3 years ago prior to my employment.This 2008 PRS Singlecut Hollowbody Standard Piezo has a mahogany top, back, and sides. The disclaimer is that I work for Seymour Duncan/D-Tar, but I didn't when they developed it. You can even snap the strings and you can hear the body of the acoustic (that isn't really there) make the whoofing sound.
The Mama Bear is the only thing that effectively replaces "nothing" with "something" and it knows exactly what to do. I've made piezos in electric guitars with wooden bridges, or with wood in strategic points in the bridge, and EQ and super short tailed reverb will only get you so far. I like to run it mostly clean with a little Piezo mixed with the magnetic. I've been playing solidbody piezos since the early 90's, since Mike Christian. I know strings are very much a personal thing, but I think it’s time to pick up a set or two and I’d like some opinions on two things. It understands the signal it's being delivered, and literally fills in only the "rest of the story" to morph the sound into what it would sound like if you were standing a few feet in front of 16 different guitar models. It has an input setting for a metal bridge with piezo.
